Episode 50: We, Children of the Galaxy

As night fell, secret meetings were frequently held at the mansion of Toran Darell. These gatherings were attended by the heirs of the Empire’s legacy, entrusted with the future of the galaxy. At their center stood Toran Darell, known as the guardian of the Seldon Plan. Though he inherited his name from his father, the weight of his mission was far greater.

One evening, a man visited the mansion. Introducing himself as Peerless Anthor, he claimed to be the apprentice of a former colleague of Toran’s father at the research institute. A tall, gaunt figure, Ansoor spoke with a cold smile.

“I am a citizen of Mauve. With my device, I can examine your memories and uncover critical clues.”

But his words only heightened the group’s wariness. Particularly skeptical was Toran’s cousin, Homir Munn, a librarian at the Imperial Library. Hover eyed Ansoor with suspicion.
“A citizen of Mauve, you say?” Homir questioned icily. “Your story has too many inconsistencies.”

Meanwhile, the group debated another pressing matter: the potential existence of a Second Foundation base on Kalgan. Homir volunteered to undertake a dangerous mission.
“I will infiltrate them,” he declared with firm resolve. “Even if I must go alone.”

The atmosphere grew heavy. With Anthor’s true intentions unclear, Toran sought to change the mood. They began to sing an old Mauve anthem, We, Children of the Galaxy.

“Even battered by the cold winds of the galaxy, we shall not falter.
For we are ablaze with noble ideals.
Following the footsteps of Master Seldon,
Even a shabby space wagon won’t deter us.”

Their voices filled the mansion. Homir’s deep bass resonated as Toran’s impassioned tenor rose in harmony. The ambiance shifted, and Ansoor stood transfixed, overwhelmed by the scene.

“Struck by the searing winds of the galaxy, we shall fight.
For the galaxy itself wills it.
The Foundation shall surely rebuild the Great Galaxy,
Turning hope into love,
And painting the edges of the universe Mauve.”

As the last verse concluded, Anthor gasped.
“I . . . never imagined your resolve and conviction would be this strong.” For a brief moment, his eyes seemed to betray a flicker of emotion.

But Homir’s gaze remained sharp.
“We won’t be so easily swayed by a song.”

“I understand,” Anthor replied curtly. “Will you use my device to uncover the truth?”

Homir shook his head calmly. “First, we need to uncover your true identity.”

Anthor’s lips twitched, his expression stiffening. Everyone sensed that the real confrontation was about to begin.

The song faded, and silence reclaimed the room. Yet its echoes seemed to ripple to the farthest corners of the galaxy. After all, these were the ones destined to shape its future.
