Chapter 25
(Excerpt from “The Diary of Gladia Dornick”)
“Why is Terminus located at the edge of the Galactic Empire, even further to the edge of the Anacreon Prefectural District, with about 100,000 people resettled there? Perhaps it was the intention of psychohistorians and Hari Seldon. It consists of a hundred islands, with a slightly larger island as the capital, a star surrounded by seas. It is a planet devoid of resources, where people can only live on the brink of survival, an agricultural planet with no commercial value.
Yet, it is precisely because of this that it was an environment where the Empire could not suspect and where one could steadily climb towards their goals. Hardin did well. Even though they had no personal acquaintance, it can be said that they inherited Hari’s will sufficiently.
It is said that Hardin’s approach was a mirror image of Gaal Dornick’s home planet, Synnax. Synnax is the resettlement site of the people from the small island of Niff, located to the east of humanity’s home planet.
Anacreon’s independence from the Empire is already a reality, and Terminus swiftly claimed Anacreon for itself.
However, we cannot afford to underestimate the situation. In this chaotic, disorderly galaxy where civilizations are in decline, what awaits us? What enemies will emerge, and can the Foundation overcome them? There is no room for reassurance.
If possible, I wish my mother Dors would not worry unnecessarily. It would be best if the Second Foundation never had to make an appearance.
Nevertheless, there is a sense of something about to begin.”
