Chapter 7

Three Zitas

Synopsis

Daneel Olivaw’s exploration of Earth was also an attempt to find another secret for the revival of the galaxy. It was also aimed at grooming the young archaeologist Gaal Dornick, who was on the planet Synnax, as the successor to Hari Seldon in order to complete Hari Seldon’s “psychohistory” and find new innovations for it.

As Gaal arrived at Trantor, he found himself entangled in Seldon’s trial, orchestrated cleverly by Seldon and Daneel as part of a grand plan. Gaal was assigned the role of the 51st executive officer for Terminus, a role that was essentially the number one position.

While Gaal was preparing to travel to Terminus, he was given a new mission by Seldon. Gaal, seemingly under hypnosis, found himself on an unfamiliar spaceship. A beautiful woman stood before him, speaking to him in a friendly manner.

After successfully completing the mission, shielded by Radioactivity defense curtain, the two walked on the desolate Earth. Gaal vaguely observed the sights of Earth and watched Wanda play, seemingly forgetting about another mission.

Is this the essence of the cycle of life?

Water drawn by Wanda was divided into three, placed in transparent, purple, and yellow cylindrical pendants. Wanda asked Gaal to give the purple cylinder to her sister Bellis, who had evacuated to Terminus.

One hundred years passed, and as predicted by Hari Seldon, cracks began to appear throughout the Galactic Empire, signaling its decline. Foundation, initially quietly fulfilling its role as a dictionary compilation library foundation under the Galactic Empire ‘Trantor’ subdued the independence movement of the Anacreon sector, to which Terminus belonged.

The key figure in the next period was Salvor Hardin.

Following Salvor Hardin, Foundation’s power strengthened, leading to a direct confrontation with the Trantor Empire. After a resounding victory, Foundation claimed the leading position in the entire galaxy.

Gladia, from the Hardin family, moved to the Dornick family as an adopted child. Her exceptional abilities, demonstrated by planting tea trees at the Lavender Farm, positioned her as the next successor in the declining galaxy. A trade merchant, Ponyets, maintained a respectful bond with Gladia’s daughter, Arcadia (not to be confused with Meeter’s master Arcadia), who would later play a crucial role in Meeter’s Earth restoration project.

Subsequently, Arcadia and her daughter, Althea, migrated to the planet Smyrno due to overpopulation on Terminus. There, they were assisted by Byron Farrell, a nobleman from the Nepherus star near the Horsehead Dark Nebula, who was involved in opposing the dictatorship in Summersec at the time.

Byron married Althea, overthrew the Summersec regime, and incorporated Smyrno into the Foundation League. He later rediscovered a document titled ‘John Nack’s Historical Thought Book,’ believed to have been brought by his ancestors from the planet Nepherus, and focused on its deciphering as a historian.

Althea bore a daughter, whom she named after her mother. Strangely, mother and daughter discovered a book titled ‘Knowledge for Children.’

The meaning of “decluttering” was later elaborated by Arcadia and her friend, the robot Meeter, revealing that for human survival, a philosophy of “newness and movement” is required, involving minimizing existing possessions and moving forward to the next stage.

“The Korell Republic has surrendered unconditionally. And Hober Mallow has gained a position in the hearts of the people of Foundation, following Hari Seldon and Salvor Hardin.” by “Galactic Encycropedia”

Zita Barr: It’s nice to meet you, Zita. I’m also Zita. Zita Barr. I’m much older than you, though.

Zita Mallow (Bellis): You’re welcome. It was Althea grandmother who told me to come. I wanted to come to Siwenna too. Your father spoke highly of it. Your father, Onum Barr, is now the Prime Minister of this Corell region.

Zita Barr (MenelMenellaeaking of that, your father, Hober Mallow, is a hero not only on this planet but for the entire Corell Region Republic (now part of Foundation) as well. I would like to meet your father and express my gratitude. But you are not just a representative of your father. I have two reasons for asking you to come directly to Siwenna.

Firstly, I want to introduce agroforestry to this planet, a project started by your grandmother. I would like to learn from your expertise and knowledge as a pioneer in this field.

Secondly, during the civil unrest on this planet, when families were scattered, I was saved by a woman and taken to Trantor, where I was taken in by a family. I am now living in that house. Let me introduce you to the daughter of that family, Zita Pulver. She may be the same age as you.
